IRCTC Faces Technical Glitch: Indian Railways E-ticket Booking Restored After 2-Hour Outage

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail & Steel): On Thursday, November 23, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website encountered a substantial technical glitch, resulting in disruptions to the booking of e-tickets for approximately two hours. The issue was officially acknowledged by IRCTC through posts on their verified social media accounts around noon.

The railway corporation attributed the temporary disruption to an ongoing technical problem, acknowledging the inconvenience faced by users. “E-ticket booking is temporarily affected due to technical reasons. Technical team is working on it, and booking will be made available soon,” stated IRCTC in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) at 12:04 pm.

During the outage period, users attempting to secure tickets under both the Tatkal and General quota faced persistent login issues on both the IRCTC website and its mobile application. Reports surfaced of users encountering a 502 Bad Gateway error when accessing the app. The situation escalated as some users received downtime messages, notably during IRCTC’s scheduled nightly downtime at 11 PM. Adding to the chaos, several individuals reported instances of payments being deducted from their accounts without corresponding booking history visible on the platform, exacerbating the frustration among affected users.
