Vande Bharat train to soon run in Kashmir : Railway Minister

New Delhi (Metro Rail & steel): Indian Railways is on a journey of expansion and modernization, with the promise of new Vande Bharat Express trains set to revolutionize rail travel in different parts of the country. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has revealed big plans for the future, including the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express in Kashmir.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that once the Jammu to Srinagar railway line is completed, the Vande Bharat Express will also be introduced on this route. The Vande Bharat Express has been specially designed to operate seamlessly in challenging conditions of Kashmir, known for its extreme temperatures and high altitudes. While the exact launch date remains undisclosed, the Railway Minister anticipates that the Jammu-Srinagar railway line will commence operations within this financial year. This is a huge step forward for the region, bringing in improved connectivity and access to Jammu and Srinagar.

In addition to serving Kashmir, the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express is poised to benefit the people of Tripura once the railway line to this northeastern state is electrified. This expansion not only enhances regional connectivity but also aligns with the government’s broader vision for the development of the northeastern region. Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown a keen personal interest in the development of both the northeastern region and Jammu and Kashmir. This interest is reflected in the substantial expansion of railway services in these regions.

The Railway Minister’s announcement also shed light on the government’s plans to introduce 75 Vande Bharat trains by March of the upcoming year. These trains, known for their speed and modern amenities, have already transformed rail travel in India. In a move to cater to a diverse range of travelers, the government is also keen to introduce sleeper versions of these trains on long-distance routes, providing an attractive alternative to the well-established Rajdhani Express trains.

In addition to these prospects, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off two new trains in the Northeast region and extended the services of two others. This expansion is set to enhance connectivity in the region, making travel more accessible and convenient for the local population.
