Indian Railways Successfully Commissions Odisha’s Tangiriapal-Tomka Double Line Section

ODISHA (Metro Rail & Steel): The recently commissioned 10.506-kilometer double-line section underwent a meticulous inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Kolkata, earlier this week. The inspection focused on scrutinizing safety aspects and conducting a Speed Trial to ensure the viability of train traffic along this newly established railway segment.

Under the guidance of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project progresses swiftly, with over 99 percent of the construction already completed. The project, pivotal in augmenting railway infrastructure, aims to expedite the region’s economic growth through improved connectivity and streamlined train operations.

Foreseeing numerous benefits, the Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project is set to significantly bolster Odisha’s economy. It promises seamless train operations and enhances connectivity between the Howrah-Chennai and Howrah-Mumbai Main Lines, particularly traversing the iron ore-rich belt of the state.

Additionally, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone is actively engaged in the critical Kothavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul (KK) line doubling project, spanning 445.5 kilometers. Commencing in FY 2011-12 and receiving the final sanction in FY 2015-16, this extensive endeavor holds the promise of bolstering regional economies and facilitating smoother train operations in the Eastern Ghat region.
