Good news for commuters of Delhi Metro! Soon, it will be possible to make purchases and make reservations for services while riding the metro. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is actively striving to introduce the first virtual shopping app for the metro in this context.
By August 2023, a new application called “Momentum 2.0” is expected to be released. However, the date and time of the launch is not known. A senior DMRC representative claimed in an interview that the close group testing of the application is being done for overall performance.
“At present, close group testing of the app is going on for overall performance. In addition, the installation of Smart lockers and Virtual stores is also going on at the Stations. The App is expected to be launched by August 2023,” Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications, DMRC stated.
The Delhi Metro’s Virtual Shopping app will allow customers to order a variety of goods and schedule services while riding the train, and then pick them up at the destination stations.
The mobile application will offer immediate, direct access to specially designed services like last-mile connectivity alternatives, a vast selection of e-shopping possibilities, and digital lockers for speedy and secure delivery. Additionally, the app will offer smart payment alternatives for additional utility services as well as the ability to recharge smart cards.
The ‘Momentum 2.0’ application will allow users of the Delhi Metro to receive real-time information about train arrival times. The application will also give users extensive information about the amenities offered by metro stations, including the location and status of gates, lifts, escalators, platforms, coach occupancy, and available space. Additionally, it will provide details on the shops, outlets, kiosks, and ATMs that are located at the stations.
