RRTS Introduces Seamless Ticket Booking: Commuters Can Now Book with a Tap

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail & Steel): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched an innovative ‘single-tap ticketing’ feature for commuters traveling on Namo Bharat trains via the ‘RRTS Connect’ Mobile App. This pioneering feature allows commuters to effortlessly generate a QR code on their RRTS Connect app with just one tap, from within a 300-meter radius of the RRTS station premises. Such a convenience, being offered for the first time globally in any public transport system, revolutionizes the ticketing experience.

Typically, other transportation apps necessitate selecting both the origin and destination before starting a journey, limiting the flexibility to change destinations during travel. However, the ‘single-tap booking’ feature eliminates this hassle, streamlining the ticketing process and saving commuters precious time. To make use of this cutting-edge feature, commuters must download the ‘RRTS Connect’ mobile application and fulfill simple prerequisites. Linking an e-wallet to the app with a minimum balance, along with enabling location services on their mobile phones while using the app, is all part of a one-time setup for seamless single-tap ticket booking on future Namo Bharat journeys.

Upon completion of this setup, a simple tap on the RRTS Connect app generates a QR code, allowing commuters to board the train from their origin station. When reaching the destination station, commuters can exit by scanning the QR code on the AFC gate, and the fare is automatically deducted. NCRTC offers multiple ticketing options for commuter convenience, including digital QR code-based tickets through the ‘RRTS Connect’ app via the innovative ‘one-tap’ feature or traditional origin-destination selection. Furthermore, Paper QR code-based tickets can be generated through Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) or purchased from UPI-enabled ticket vending machines.

These TVMs also facilitate recharging the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), aligning with the Government of India’s “One Nation, One Card” vision. Additionally, commuters have the option to acquire the RRTS commuter card, an NCMC that can be used across all transit systems and for card payments anywhere. The operational 17-km long Priority Section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, currently features five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Namo Bharat Trains and the RRTS corridor on October 20, setting a target for the entire corridor to be operational by June 2025.
