MINNEAPOLIS: In an unexpected turn of events, a Metro Transit light rail train experienced a derailment incident in downtown Minneapolis, leading to three minor injuries, as reported by WCCO-TV.
The mishap occurred between the Nicollet Mall and Warehouse District/Hennepin stations around 8:30 p.m. due to a concrete object obstructing the tracks, according to Metro Transit officials. Fortunately, those affected by the incident suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Following the derailment, the Blue and Green line services were temporarily replaced by buses in the downtown area until the early hours of the morning. However, Metro Transit assured a return to the regular light rail schedule today, as mentioned in their social media update.
