DMRC App Records Remarkable 3.1 Million Passengers Booking QR-Code Tickets Between Oct 1- Nov 15

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail & Steel): In a recent announcement by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials on Friday, it was revealed that more than 31 lakh passengers opted for QR-code tickets through the DMRC app between October 1 and November 15, marking a significant trend in digital ticketing usage.

DMRC data disclosed that in October alone, 18,20,504 tickets were booked via the mobile application, followed by 12,81,422 tickets purchased up to November 15. Additionally, 3,41,662 tickets were booked through alternate digital platforms, such as WhatsApp, in October, rising to 3,97,506 tickets until mid-November.

The average monthly passenger journey during October stood at 61,36,626, while the count until November 15 amounted to 57,45,660. The utilization of journeys or lines is measured by the corridors passengers traverse to reach their destinations. Further insights from the data highlighted that 73.60% of passengers availed themselves of Delhi Metro’s ‘smart cards’ in October, emphasizing a preference for cashless and digital transactions.

One passenger, Aaditya Singh, praised the ease and convenience of using app-based QR-code tickets, narrating his experience of effortlessly booking a ticket via WhatsApp while avoiding long queues at ticket counters. “I took a metro from the T-3 of the Delhi airport to reach home. A DMRC staff member helped me book a ticket through WhatsApp. It was quite easy, and I immediately went inside the station following the security check without waiting in queue,” Singh remarked.

The DMRC introduced ‘DMRC TRAVEL,’ a dedicated mobile application, on June 30, facilitating passengers to generate hassle-free mobile-based QR-code tickets for travel across the extensive metro network.
