PM Modi to inaugurate Pune Metro service on two sections on Aug 1

Maha-Metro officials acknowledged receiving the safety compliance certificates for the Phugewadi to Civil Court and Garware to Ruby Hall Clinic segments on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to officially inaugurate the Garware to Ruby Hall Clinic and Phugewadi to Civil Court stretches of the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) on August 1 after getting the safety compliance certificates from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).

The prime minister laid the foundation stone of Pune Metro on December 23, 2018. On March 6, 2022, Modi also announced the opening of the project’s first two sections: PCMC to Phugewadi (7 km) and Vanaz to Garware College (5 km).

Vinod Agrawal, director (operations and maintenance), Maha-Metro, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch passenger service on the two stretches. Civil Court station is one of the crucial interchange stations on PCMC to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi routes.”

“The design of Civil Court Metro Station incorporates an underground facility for the PCMC to Swargate route, along with an elevated station for Vanaz to Ramwadi route, connected by escalators and lifts,” he further said.

The Civil Court Interchange Metro Station, which is the hub of the Pune Metro network and has eight lifts and 18 escalators for the convenience of passengers, will be connected to the third metro line, which will connect Civil Court to Hinjewadi, via a pedestrian bridge.
