The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially opened a new extension of the Pink Line, adding 15 kilometers of track and connecting several high-density residential and commercial areas. The extension is expected to benefit over 200,000 daily commuters, improving connectivity and reducing travel times across the sprawling capital city.
This addition is part of Phase IV of Delhi’s metro expansion, which aims to add 100 kilometers of new track by 2026. The Pink Line’s extension also incorporates cutting-edge technology, including automatic train operations (ATO) and platform screen doors for improved safety. With increased frequency and reduced waiting times, the extension will significantly improve service efficiency.
The expansion aligns with Delhi’s efforts to combat air pollution and reduce traffic congestion. By encouraging more people to use public transportation, DMRC hopes to lower the city’s carbon footprint, making a tangible impact on environmental sustainability.
