Seoul Metro Installs AI-Powered Security Systems Across Stations

Seoul Metro has begun rolling out AI-powered security systems across its metro stations to enhance passenger safety and prevent crime. These systems use facial recognition and behavioral analysis to detect suspicious activity and notify security personnel in real-time.

The AI technology, developed by local firm LG CNS, can track crowd movements and identify unusual behavior, such as unattended luggage or loitering. The system is also capable of detecting health emergencies, like passengers who appear unwell or unresponsive, allowing for prompt assistance.

Seoul Metro’s adoption of AI for security aligns with the city’s vision of becoming a global smart city. Officials expect that the advanced security measures will provide peace of mind for the metro’s 7 million daily users and enhance overall public safety in Seoul’s transit network.
