The Tricity Metro Project has received approval from the MoHUA

Just one month after the comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) was submitted for consideration, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approved the Tricity metro project. This represents a massive step in the right direction for reducing traffic in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.

The 39-kilometre-long projected metro network is intended to help with the Tricity area’s increasing traffic problems. It covers plans for Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, New Chandigarh, and Pinjore. The project will include bus terminals, depots, and enhancements at important junctions, with an estimated cost of about Rs 10,570 crore.
