According to railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the first batch of Vande Bharat sleeper variants will be introduced by the government in March 2024.
According to Vaishnaw, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), in Chennai, is developing the design for these sleeper trains, which should be readily available by the end of the year.
As of right now, 22 Vande Bharat trains run during the day and include coaches with chairs. With the addition of sleeper coaches, these trains will be able to go farther and overnight.
