NEW DELHI (Metro Rail & Steel): The Indian Railways has temporarily suspended several train operations along the picturesque Nilgiri Mountain Rail (NMR) route, prompted by the adverse impact of heavy rains and landslides on the century-old rail line. The inclement weather conditions led to the fall of trees onto the track, particularly between the Kallar-Coonoor sections, causing disruptions and safety concerns.
As a result of the ongoing restoration work along the affected sections, rail traffic has been suspended until November 16, 2023 (Thursday). Notably falling under the jurisdiction of the Southern Railways (SR), the decision to suspend services was confirmed by the zonal railway authorities.
In response to the cancellations, a spokesperson stated, “Passengers holding tickets for the cancelled train services will receive a full refund of the ticket fare.”

- Train Number 06140: Udagamandalam-Coonoor Passenger train (Scheduled departure from Udagamandalam at 17:30 hrs)
