Huge rush as Namma Metro services in Bengaluru are interrupted on the Purple Line

Office workers, students, and other commuters saw turmoil on Tuesday morning (July 4), as services on Namma Metro’s Purple Line were interrupted owing to a problem with the power supply. While the delays started about 7:30 a.m., services weren’t fully restored until 12:08 p.m., which caused long lines at every station along the stretch.

At the Indiranagar metro station, where trains from Kengeri terminated, commuters had to use buses and taxis to go where they needed to be. At the Majestic station, where commuters from the purple and green lines meet, there was a significant crowd.

Meanwhile, a lot of irritated passengers posted images of congested metro stations and griped about the congestion on social media.

The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) of the Baiyappanahalli metro station was changed on Monday night, according to BMRCL officials, and this is what caused the majority of the disturbance. As part of the unfinished 2.1-km Baiyappanahalli-K.R. Pura section’s pending development, the power system overhaul was currently underway.

“The train service was disrupted on Tuesday morning as a result of the power system change being delayed. However, by afternoon, we had resolved the problem and fixed it,” a senior official from BMRCL’s operations division stated.
