The government on Tuesday announced the formation of 13 task forces made up of important stakeholders like industry experts, academics, think tanks, scientific and technological agencies, as well as other ministries in an effort to drive the steel sector towards a greener and more sustainable future.
These task forces have been tasked with developing plans and suggestions to speed up the decarbonization of the steel industry.
The government has put in place a number of policies with the aim of promoting the manufacture and use of high-quality steel made from recycled materials. These restrictions also demand that steel manufacturers comply strictly with predetermined quality standards.
The Ministry of Steel has formally announced 145 Indian Standards applicable to steel and steel products within the purview of the Quality Control Order (QCO) in order to realise this ambition. With this step, it will always be feasible to deliver high-quality goods to the general public.

The Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicles Scrapping Facility) Rules of September 23, 2021 have been introduced to increase the amount of scrap available to the steel industry. This tactical manoeuvre creates a comprehensive and sustainable resource cycle by facilitating resource recycling and ensuring a stable supply of scrap materials for steel manufacture.
