With the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) most recent update, purchasing tickets for the Delhi Metro has become simpler. Recently, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the Delhi Metro and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to implement QR code-based ticketing for Delhi Metro services via the IRCTC portal.
According to a formal announcement, users of DMRC services can now purchase metro QR code tickets using the IRCTC app. According to the press release, “In a strategic alliance, IRCTC and Delhi DMRC have united to elevate passenger convenience.” This partnership aims to implement IRCTC portal-based QR code-based ticketing for DMRC services in line with the broad “One India-One Ticket” policy.
If you use the IRCTC website to buy tickets for trains, planes, or buses, you can now easily get QR code-based tickets for DMRC rides too. Use the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) provided by IRCTC and pay the nominal charge of Rs 5. You won’t have to wait through long lines this way, giving you more time to take in your travel spots.
Seema Kumar, the Chairman & Managing Director of IRCTC, highlighted the importance of this significant partnership, stating, “Through this collaboration with DMRC, we are dedicated to connecting different modes of transportation, ultimately delivering unprecedented advantages to passengers.”
In alignment with this notion, Dr Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, said “This initiative not only guarantees passengers a hassle-free experience but also targets a reduction in congestion at DMRC stations by minimizing dependence on conventional ticketing.”
