Six metro stations, each less than 750m from the next stop, have been scrapped from metro rail’s phase-2 in a decision expected to save nearly 1,200 crore. The stations were planned at Doveton Junction, Foreshore Estate, Natesan Park, Meenakshi College and Thapal Petti, all underground, and at St Joseph’s College, elevated.
The 118.9km phase-2, planned with 128 stations including 48 underground at an estimated 61,843 crore, is expected to be completed by 2026.
