Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project: DMRC prepares and submits DPR to Odisha government

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) after conducting a traffic survey, geotechnical investigation, topographic survey, environmental and social impact assessments, completed the Detailed Project Report preparation and submitting to the Chief Secretary on Wednesday in the meeting held by Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation.

On April 1, 2023, Odisha Day, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the Metro Rail Project under the 5T mandate, which will connect Bhubaneswar Airport to Trishulia, Cuttack. Khordha, Puri, and more regions of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city will afterwards be covered by the project.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was given the task of creating the Detailed Project Report (DPR). In the meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has been notified on August 3, 2023, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and General Manager (Administration) have been appointed.

According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the Phase-I of Bhubaneswar Metro Rail will cover Biju Patnaik Airport, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapujinagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vanivihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zooligical Pak, Phulapokhari and Trisulia Square, Cuttack covering a total length of 26 km with 20 stations.
